puis de la famille de Louvois, le domaine de Vélizy,
qui compte alors Villacoulay et l’Ursine fut ensuite
cédé à Louis XIV et agrandira les chasses
royales .En 1885 le dirigeable « La France »
se pose par hasard à Villacoublay, inaugurant une
tradition aéronautique jamais démentie. Le
toponyme Villacoublay sera accolé à Vélizy
en 1937 apportant avec lui la notoriété des
avionneurs et des héros de l’aviation.
Vélizy-Villacoublay restera très longtemps
un village agricole car ce n’est qu’en 1960
que la cité commencera à se développer
en trois grandes phases. La ville prend alors sa physionomie
actuelle, marquée par un espace d’habitat résidentiel
à l’ouest, le mail au centre et un pôle
d’activité économique à l’est
avec notamment un centre commercial régional «
Vélizy 2 » dont la renommée n’est
plus à faire. Cette politique d’urbanisation
originale a fait de Vélizy une ville moderne où
il fait bon vivre. Vélizy-Villacoublay est aussi
connu pour son aérodrome militaire, spécialisé
dans les liaisons aériennes ministérielles
et présidentielles.
Avec 65 hectares d’espaces verts, 313 hectares de
forêts domaniales, Vélizy offre un cadre de
vie peu commun où l‘équilibre se joue
à chaque coin de rue entre espace naturel, bâti
et fleuri. En effet l’habitat contemporain est inséré
dans une trame végétale parfaitement étudiée
qui donne à la ville un caractère champêtre
auquel les habitants sont très attachés. 272
000 plantes sont installées chaque année et
plus de 250 variétés annuelles et de vivaces
qui s’épanouissent l’été
à travers toute la ville.
Owned for a long time by the Hôtel
Dieu of Paris and then the Louvois family, the domain of
Vélizy, which at that time included Villacoulay and
l'Ursine, was then ceded to Louis XIV and added to the royal
hunting grounds. In 1885 the airship "La France"
happened to touch down at Villacoublay, inaugurating an
aeronautical tradition which has never been abandoned. The
name Villacoublay was added to Vélizy in 1937, bringing
with it the fame of the aircraft manufacturers and the heroes
of aviation.
Vélizy-Villacoublay was to remain an agricultural
village for a very long time, for it was only in 1960 that
the town began to grow, in three major phases. The town
then acquired its present form , with a residential area
to the west, the shopping district in the center and a business
area to the east, and, of course, the well-known regional
shopping centre "Vélizy 2". This original
town planning policy has made Vélizy a modern town
and a pleasant place to live. Vélizy-Villacoublay
is also known for its military aerodrome, which specialises
in ministerial and presidential air links.
With 65 hectares of green spaces and 313 hectares of State-owned
forests, Vélizy offers an outstanding lifestyle where
every street corner bears witness to the balance between
natural spaces, buildings and floral decorations. In fact,
the contemporary habitat is incorporated in a superbly designed
plant framework which gives the town a rural character,
greatly appreciated by its inhabitants. 272,000 plants are
planted every year, with more than 250 annual and perennial
varieties brightening up the whole town in summer. |
