le village au coeur des riches terres à blé
beauceronnes croule sous les fleurs.
Moutiers-en-Beauce est une bourgade de la Beauce, où
le fleurissement est une institution qui a démarré en 1960,
à l'initiative d'un habitant. Progressivement, l'idée a
gagné tout le village et les choses sont désormais prises
en main par le garde-champêtre, un passionné qui imagine
les décors, plante, désherbe, arrose... Le résultat est
superbe et en saison, des centaines de visiteurs défilent
dans le village. Le bâti traditionnel beauceron, les murs,
les grosses fermes fortifiées, s'ornent de roses, géraniums,
tulipes, œillets, plantés en pleine terre. Des haies d'ifs,
ou de troènes superbement taillés, encadrent la mare communale
et font une haie d'honneur à la jolie petite église, et
à sa tour romane.
In summer, this village, at the
heart of the rich wheatfields of the Beauce, overflows with
flowers.
Moutiers-en-Beauce is a small town of the Beauce, where
floral displays are an institution, first established in
1960, at the initiative of one of the inhabitants. The idea
gradually gained ground in the village, and things were
then taken over by the local policeman, a great enthusiast
who designed decorations, planted, weeded, and watered.
The result is superb, and hundreds of visitors come to see
the village in the flower season. The traditional Beauce
buildings, the walls, and the great fortified farmhouses
are all decorated with beds of roses, geraniums, tulips,
and carnations. Hedges of yew and superbly cut privets surround
the communal pond and form a hedge of honour round the pretty
little church and its Romanesque tower.
