Fleury-les-Aubrais est située aux portes d'Orléans, mais
aussi en bordure de la plus grande forêt domaniale de France,
la forêt d'Orléans, qui s'étend sur 35 000 hectares. La
cité doit ses origines à une seigneurie qui relevait du
Prieuré Saint-Gervais et Saint-Protais. Fleury commence
par une chapelle qui se baptisa Saint-André. Lorsque la
paroisse se forma, les religieux lui donnèrent le nom de
Fleury, en souvenir de leur première résidence. Fleury-les-Aubrais
est principalement une cité résidentielle, dont les habitants
travaillent à Orléans. La présence d'une importante gare
SNCF la place au carrefour d'un vaste réseau de communication.
La ville a su grandir en respectant un urbanisme aéré, bien
réparti entre les différentes zones d'habitat : individuel
ou collectif. Tous les quartiers sont extrêmement bien fleuris,
plantés d'arbres et d'arbustes, en utilisant une gamme très
large de végétaux.

Fleury-les-Aubrais is situated at the gates of Orléans,
but is also on the edge of France's biggest State-owned
forest, the Forêt d'Orléans, which covers 35,000 hectares.
The town's origins go back to the Seigneurie of the Prieuré
Saint-Gervais et Saint-Protais. Fleury started with a chapel
which was named Saint-André. When the first parish was formed,
the monks named it Fleury in honour of their first residence.
Fleury-les-Aubrais is mainly a residential area for people
working in Orléans. The presence of a large SNCF railway
station puts it at the crossroads of a vast communication
network. The town has grown in line with an airy town plan,
well-distributed between the different areas: both private
and corporate. All the districts have splendid flower displays
and are planted with trees and shrubs, using a very wide
range of plants. |
